Korea (RRA) Conformity Assessment Regulatory News Update

A newly revised conformity assessment notification from RRA (National Radio Research Agency) in Korea has been published on Dec. 5th, 2017. The following are the major changes: 
 

• Identification code describing method is fixed and not to change even if the government department name has changed. (Both currently the describing method and the new method can be used until June 30, 2018. After that, only the new method shall be used.)

• Hyphen (-) and underscore (­_) can be used in the product identification code in conformity assessment. (Both the current describing method and the new method can be used until June 30, 2018. After that, only the new method shall be used.)

• For products to be imported into Korea, the conformity assessment identification shall be put onto a product and/or a package before going through the Korean customs. (Both the current existing method and the new method can be used until June 30, 2018. After that, only the new method shall be used.)

• Attach an external photo into “Letter of confirmation conforming to the compatibility assessment criteria” for a product to be checked on site during investigation of illegal products (Effective from Dec. 5^th, 2017)

• Firefighting products is controlled by RRA as EMC products. (Effective from Dec. 19^th, 2017)

• Motor bicycle, motor board, motor wheelchair, motor scooter and similar products are subject to EMC. (Effective from Dec. 5^th, 2017)
  • Motor bicycle is subject to KN 15194 which is going to apply from March 22th, 2018. It is not yet published.

• DC power supply and mobile phone charger is subject to EMC. (Effective from Dec. 5^th, 2017)

• Electric lighter and LED lantern (only ON/OFF function) powered by USB and batteries is exempted. (Effective from Dec. 5^th, 2017)
