Restriction on 5 GHz WIFI and 868MHz SRD
The Ivorian regulatory Authority held in November a meeting to inform all the telecommunication sector actors that restrictions are imposed on WI-FI 5GHz frequency band as follows:
Only 5150-5250MHz will be allowed for approval. In addition, after prohibition in 2017, the frequency 868-870MHz has been re-opened and is only allowed for IoT networking SRDs.
BrazilANATEL released Public Consultation Number 33 with the goal of revising the main regulation (Resolution 242), the certification rules adopted in Brazil since 2000. Resolution 242 is cancelled at the beginning of 2018. Interested parties have until February 2018 to send comments on the new certification regulation that will be used to approve telecommunication devise in Brazil starting next year.
MexicoOn 27th October 2017, NOM-029-ENER-2017 was published in Mexico's official gazette (Diario Oficial de la Federación, DOF) by the Mexican National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy (CONUEE). This NOM standard establishes minimum values of energy efficiency in operation, test methods, conformity assessment and labelling requirements for external power supplies.

Subtel stopped issuing modular approvals earlier this year after are interpretation of the regulations. According to Resolution 1985, it is now confirmed that modular approval is no longer possible; host systems must be approved. Also SEC Chile has finalized a new safety certification requirement for charging equipment used with cellular phones. Under Resolution 16677, power adapters, USB adapters, and other charging equipment for cellular phones now requires mandatory SEC certification.
