Act 493 and 14448 are enforceable as of January, regarding wireless power transmission and communication equipment.

Act 493 Updates

Brazil's regulatory agency has provided updates regarding technologies using wireless power transmission, such as mobile cellular device/phone chargers (12 Vcc / 24 Vcc) that provide charging through conductivity, commonly used in vehicles.

Updated technical requirements from ANATEL are published in Act 493/2017.

All wireless power transmission (WPT) approved before this act shall be re-tested during the certificate renewal process, if current certificate was issued more than 2 years ago.

Act 14448 Updates

Anatel has published Act 14448, replacing Act 11542 from New Resolution 680.

  • New Resolution 680 is the new legislation that replaced Resolution 506, from 2008. Resolution 680 provides information relating to restricted radiation devices (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RFID, Zigbee, and etc). Resolution 680 was effective August of 2017.

Act 14448 reduces the permissible range for microphone frequencies. Previously according to Act 11542, the allowed range for microphone frequencies was 614 – 806 MHz, based on Act 14448, it is now 614 – 698 MHz. Additionally, transceivers must now be tested for radiated emissions.

The limits for spurious emissions must be in accordance with the following table.

Radio Frequency Range Bandwidth Power Limit in Operating Range
72-73 MHz ≤ 200 KHz 80 mV/m @ 3m
74.6-74.8 MHz ≤ 200 KHz 80 mV/m @ 3m
75.2-76 MHz ≤ 200 KHz 80 mV/m @ 3m
