New National EMC And Safety Standards Drafted

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand have proposed new draft Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electrical Safety standards, to eventually replace existing NTBC standards TS 3001-2555 (EMC) and NTC TS 4001-2550 (Safety).

A summary of the main differences between the existing and new proposed standards is shown below:

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)

Existing standard NBTC TS 3001-2555	New proposed standard NBTC TS 3001-25xx
EMC requirements shall be compliant with TIS1956-2553	EMC requirements shall be compliant with one of the following standards or other equivalent standards: -TIS1956-2553 -CISPR22:2008 -CISPR32:2015

Electrical Safety

Existing standard NTC TS 4001-2550	New proposed standard NBTC TS 4001-25xx
Electrical safety requirements shall be compliant with TIS1561-2548	Electrical safety requirements shall be compliant with one of the following standards; or other equivalent standards: -TIS1561-2556 -IEC60950-1 -IEC62368-1
