New Requirement for Electrical and Telecom Products in Argentina

Argentina has announced a new regulatory regime to ensure that the country's commercial electrical equipment provides adequate protection for consumers, property and domestic pets.
According to the Resolution №169/2018, electrical and electronic products (The new requirements apply to electrical equipment with nominal input and/or output voltages between 50 and 1,000 VAC, DC voltages between 75 and 1,500 volts, and power supplies, chargers and transformers operating in these current ranges) shall have a certificate that proves compliance with safety requirements to be sold within the Argentinian market. IRAM (Instituto Argentino de Normalización y Certificación) is the official organization that regulates certification and compliance of electrical and telecom equipment in Argentina.

- Air-conditioners
- Dishwashers
- Dryers Freezers
- Electric storage water heaters
- Fluorescent ballasts
- Fluorescent lamps
- Freezers
- Microwave ovens
- Refrigerators
- Washing machines
The importer of the subject matter must ensure that its products comply with all applicable safety, labeling, certification and other requirements. For safety, the tested product must be designed and manufactured in accordance with applicable IRAM or IEC standards to ensure adequate protection against hazards, including dangerous temperature rises, arcing or radiation, and other hazards associated with direct or indirect contact with it. This product is also a non-electrical hazard. Object goods must also have sufficient mechanical properties and be able to withstand non-mechanical effects under foreseeable conditions.
