China Revises SRRC Radio Approval Procedures

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China (MIIT) released an official announcement of changes to the type approval of radio transmission equipment.

In an effort to reduce the transaction costs of institutions and enterprises, technical tests may be performed by the MIIT.

  1. Payment by applicant for testing services is held, and will be returned if testing is completed and passing. The technical test service fees required for type approval shall be settled regularly by the Ministry through the departmental budget funds and the inspection agency.

  2. Approved testing and inspection agencies and their testing capabilities are published on the MIIT website. Selection of the agency is performed by SRRC and must be through the government website.

  3. Relevant information regarding the selection and purchase of type approval testing services is disclosed to the public in accordance with the provisions of the government information disclosure.

  4. MIIT shall carry out strict supervision and inspection throughout the entire inspection and approval process to ensure the quality of work and use of funds.

Although the cost for inspection and approval is refunding, testing labs will still charge for pre-scans and handling/processing fees to guarantee the radio equipment passes. Should the testing fail, then there is no refund on the deposit.
