Amendments to Terminal Equipment Technical Standards

The Radio Research Agency of Korea releases notice of amendments to the technical standards for terminal equipment in National Radio Research Commission Notice 2019-4.

Article 15-2 (Other digital terminal devices connected to commercial broadcasting and communication facilities) was updated as follows:

  1. A device that has direct access to a commercial broadcasting and communication facility and has one or more of the following digital interfaces shall conform to the applicable electrical conditions, depending on the type of interface:

  2. Type of Interface Electrical Condition
ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3, Clause 14 (10BASE-T) The transmission voltage of the terminal must be 6.2 V (P-P) or lower for a load resistance of 100 Ξ©.
ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3, Clause 25 (100BASE-TX) The transmission voltage of the terminal must be lower than 2.1 V (P-P) for a load resistance of 100 Ξ©.
ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3, Clause 40 (1000BASE-T) The transmission voltage of the terminal must be 6.2 V (P-P) or lower for a load resistance of 100 Ξ©.
ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3, Amd.7 (2.5GBASE-T, 5GBASE-T) The transmission power of the terminal is less than 3 dBm and the upper limit of the power spectrum density mask is not exceeded.
ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3, Clause 55 (10GBASE-T) The transmission power of the terminals shall be 5.2 dBm or lower, and the upper limit of the power spectrum density mask shall not be exceeded.

  3. The transmission power of a terminal equipment corresponding to one of the following items shall be less than 3 dBm and the power spectral density shall be less than 3 dBm in each standard. It shall not exceed the upper limit value of the specified mask.

    1. ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3, Amd.7(2.5GBASE-T) Terminal devices that provide transfer speeds of up to 1 Gbps based on interface
    2. ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3, Amd.7(5GBASE-T) Terminal devices that provide transfer speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps based on interface
    3. ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3 Clause 55(10GBASE-T) Terminal devices that provide transfer speeds of up to 1 Gbps based on interface

The update also includes amendments to transmitting and receiving characteristics of terminal equipment connected to the ethernet passive optical line and terminal equipment connected to 10 gigabit ethernet optical line equipment complying with ISO / IEC / IEEE 8802-3 Clause 52.

This notice is effective immediately.
