Amendments to Electromagnetic Strength Measurement Standards

The National Radio Research Agency (RRA) of South Korea amends the measurement standards for electromagnetic intensity (National Radio Research Institute Notice No. 2017-7, 2017.8.4).

The changes in the new version 3/4/2019, from the previous version released in 8/4/2017 are summarized here:

  • Details on the measurement of electromagnetic wave intensity of radio stations as stipulated in Article 47-2 of the Radio Law shall be applied to the "Measuring Method of Electromagnetic Wave Strength of Radio Stations" of asterisk Table 1. However, the radio-traveling land and land-based (including the experimental stations of the radio station) applies the "Measurement of electromagnetic wave intensity of radio stations with RF pulse-type signals" of asterisk 3.

  • After completing the measurement of electromagnetic field strength (measurement report), the results of low frequency measurement are in Annex 1 form, the results of high frequency measurement are in Annex 2 form, the results of high frequency measurement are in Annex 3 form, the results of EM strength measurement by radio station form 4, the signal of magnetic field density of electric device is separately from RF type, form 5.

  • The magnetic flux density of the electromagnetic strength criterion may be calculated from the measured field strength, and the power density may be calculated from the measured field strength (see Annex 4 if far field).

  • The revised bill must be reviewed and improved every three years (by June 30 of that year) as of July 1, 2019, in accordance with Article 12 (revision period) and the provisions for issuing and managing ordinances and regulations.

This notice in effect as of March 4th, 2019.
