The European Commission of the European Union publish the draft commission implementing regulation on design, construction and performance requirements and testing standards for marine equipment.
The draft Regulation replaces Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/773 and adapts its content to changes in the relevant international instruments.
The purpose of the Marine Equipment Directive is to enhance safety at sea and prevent marine pollution through the uniform application of the relevant international standards adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO)
These regulations provide the specific requirements concerning the construction, performance and/or testing of equipment to be placed on board ships, and to ensure the free movement of such equipment within the EU.
Radio-communication Equipment
In case of conflicting requirements between IMO MSC/Circ.862 and the product testing standards, the IMO MSC/Circ.862 requirements shall take precedence.
