Allocation and Regulation on Conditions of Use of the 3.5 GHz Radio Frequency Band

The National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) of Brazil Approves the allocation of the 3.5 GHz radio frequency band for mobile services and announces the regulation on conditions of use of the 3.5 GHz band.

Resolution nΒΊ 711

The purpose of this Regulation is to establish the conditions of use of the radio frequency band from 3,300 MHz to 3,600 MHz, for fixed services digital radiocommunication systems, in point-to-multipoint applications, and mobile services, as defined in the Radiocommunications Regulation of the ITU.

The range of radio frequencies from 3,300 MHz to 3,600 MHz shall be used by systems employing time division duplex (TDD).

The effective isotropically radiated powers (EIRP) of a base station and a terminal shall be the minimum required to perform the service with good quality and adequate reliability.

ANATEL will only allocate the radio frequencies to a telecommunications services provider if that provider presents a documentation proving their coordination with others that operate in that band.

Systems operating in the radiofrequency band of 3,300 MHz to 3,600 MHz, regularly authorized, and whose operation is in disagreement with the established in this Regulation, may continue in operation on a secondary basis and without extension.
