Updated Technical Requirements for Short Range Devices

The Directorate General of Posts and Information Resources & Equipment (SDPPI) of Indonesia releases the new standard which sets forth the technical requirements for short range telecommunication devices.

PERDIRJEN POSTEL NOMOR 161 TAHUN 2019

Although the notification was officially released July 30th, 2019, this new regulation was has been effective as of July 18th 2019.

The following are contained in the definition of a short range telecommunication device/equipment:

  • Bluetooth (BT)
  • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
  • Near Field Communication (NFC)
  • Low Power Devices (< 10 mW TX power)
  • Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) following IEEE 802.15.4
  • Intelligent transport systems
  • Other SRD equipment (contained in list)

The new regulation provides the operational frequency bands permitted, maximum transmit power, spurious emission requirements, emission limits, and test standards for these short range device categories.

Radio products certified under this regulation do not require warning statements on the package.

The following are regulations have been withdrawn and products regulated by them are no longer permitted:

  • KEPDIRJEN POSTEL NOMOR 130/DIRJEN/1990 (Personal Cordless Telephone)
  • KEPDIRJEN POSTEL NOMOR 86/DIRJEN/1999 (Public Cordless Telephone)
  • KEPDIRJEN POSTEL NOMOR 207/DIRJEN/2001 (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication)
  • PERDIRJEN POSTEL NOMOR 214/DIRJEN/2005 (Low Power Devices)

These standards have been withdrawn, and only products under the new regulation PERDIRJEN POSTEL NOMOR 161 TAHUN 2019 are allowed as of July 18, 2019.
