The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) of the Philippines issues a memorandum notifying that all RF and telecom host / end products are now required to be certified per module.
Type approval and acceptance of radiofrequency or telecommunications modules and host products, or end products with embedded or built-in radiofrequency or telecommunication modules is required in the Philippines.
The NTC is now directing all customer premises equipment and radio communications equipment suppliers and dealers to ensure that host / end products are type approved and accepted per the specific integrated / installed RF module.
For example, a host model containing radio modules X, Y, and Z will require the following certifications:
- Certificate 1: Module X + host model
- Certificate 2: Module Y + host model
- Certificate 3: Module Z + host model
Previously, one certificate could cover all three radio modules.
Similarly, an equipment model with a single Regulatory Model Name (RMN) with multiple marketing model names are required to be issued a certificate on a per marketing model name basis.
For example, a host model containing with marketing model names A, B, and C will require the following certifications:
- Certificate 1: Model A + host RMN
- Certificate 2: Model B + host RMN
- Certificate 3: Model C + host RMN
This means that models that have multiple marketing names now require individual certificates for each marketing model name.
This memorandum is in effective as of August 7th, 2019.
