Withdrawal of Technical Regulation on Computers and Input and Output Peripherals

The Ministry of Industries and Productivity of Ecuador repeals PRTE INEN No. 128 which established general safety and energy requirements for computers and peripherals.

This standard was applicable to computers and ITE peripherals classified under ICS code 35.180, and established the safety and energy efficiency requirements of computers and peripherals with rated input voltages less than 600 V.

It applied to the following computers and input and output peripherals marketed in Ecuador, whether imported or domestically manufactured:

Computers
  • Desktop computers
  • Integrated desktop computers
  • Laptop computers
  • All-in-one laptop computers
  • Workstation computers
  • Thin client computers
Input and output peripherals
  • External displays or monitors
  • Keyboards
  • Mouse

The technical regulation also applied to the motherboards or mainboards of computers in CKD form.

PRTE INEN 128 has been withdrawn and marked as a canceled project. This technical regulation is no longer effective as of September 9th, 2019.
