The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) has publishes a general notice regarding type approval, technical standards, and exemptions for telecommunications equipment.
Any person or entity that intends to connect telecommunications equipment to an electronic network in Namibia is required to obtain equipment type approval.
The following are considered valid purposes for connecting to telecommunication equipment to the network:
- Electronic communications within Namibia
- Intent to use, sell, or offer for sale telecommunications equipment within Namibia
In this general notice the following amendments were made to the type approval process:
- Definition of telecommunication equipment requiring type approval
- Results and effects of a successful application for type approval
- Required information and supplemental documentation for type approval
- Required information and supplemental documentation for renewal
