The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) of Saudi Arabia is requiring tracking devices and machine-to-machine communication devices to support 4G technology.
These devices must comply with the CITC technical specification RI056: Specification for UMTS (3G) and LTE (4G)Handsets and Related Equipment.
The frequency of operation permitted is as follows:
Uplink (UE transmit) | Downlink (UE receive) | Duplex Mode |
---|---|---|
703 MHz β 733 MHz | 758 MHz β 788 MHz | FDD |
832 MHz β 862 MHz | 791 MHz β 821 MHz | FDD |
880 MHz β 915 MHz | 925 MHz β 960 MHz | FDD |
1710 MHz β 1785 MHz | 1805 MHz β 1880 MHz | FDD |
1880 MHz β 1920 MHz | 1880 MHz β 1920 MHz | TDD |
1920 MHz β 1980 MHz | 2110 MHz β 2170 MHz | FDD |
2300 MHz β 2400 MHz | 2300 MHz β 2400 MHz | TDD |
2500 MHz - 2690 MHz | 2500 MHz - 2690 MHz | TDD |
3400 MHz β 3600 MHz | 3400 MHz β 3600 MHz | TDD |
3600 MHz β 3800 MHz | 3600 MHz β 3800 MHz | TDD |
The maximum permitted output power is 24 dBm eirp.
Testing should be carried out to ensure compliance with the following specifications:
- EN 301 908-1
- EN 301 908-2
- EN 301 908-6
- EN 301 908-13
- EN 301 489-1
- EN 301 489-24
Additionally, all equipment must comply with the requirements of CITC specification GEN001. All mobile phones, tablets, Smart watches and mobile computer must have the CITC e-label.
Tracking devices and machine-to-machine communication (M2M) equipment will be in the scope of RI056 starting January 1, 2020.
