Updated Technical Regulations for Short Range Devices

The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) of Vietnam has released updated versions of radiofrequency regulations for 2.4 GHz WiFi, Zigbee, and 1-40 GHz SRD.

The MIC has recently released updated versions of the radiofrequency regulations below:

  • QCVN 54:2020/BTTTT
  • QCVN 74:2020/BTTTT

The equivalent European standards for these updated radio frequency regulations are as follows:

  • QCVN 54:2020/BTTTT is equivalent to ETSI EN 300 328 v2.2.2 (2019-07)
  • QCVN 74:2020/BTTTT is equivalent to ETSI EN 300 440 V2.2.1 (2018-07)

The product categories covered by this update are as follows:

  • QCVN 54:2020/BTTTT: All devices using 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or Zigbee technology (such as laptops, tablets, mobile phones, access points, Wi-Fi routers, smartphone, Zigbee products, etc.)
  • QCVN 74:2020/BTTTT: Short range devices/equipment operating in the frequency band 1 GHz - 40 GHz (such as 2.4GHz RFID / SRD, 2.4 GHz radar, etc.).

All test reports based on the old version of QCVN 54:2011/BTTTT or QCVN 74:2013/BTTTT will no longer be accepted for wireless certification applications and the products need to be re-tested according to the requirements of the new version regulations.

All MIC certificates that contain old regulations need to be updated, or have the new regulations added to the original certificates.

Both updated QCVN 54:2020/BTTTT and QCVN 74:2020/BTTTT will officially be in effect on July 1, 2021. The MIC will list the updated QCVN 54:2020/BTTTT and QCVN 74:2020/BTTTT on a new circular to regulate products under mandatory type approval and SDoC, to be be issued in 2021.
