The National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) of Brazil provides the latest regulation and procedures for the identification and marking of approved products.

All ANATEL approved products (other than medical implanted equipment) are required to be affixed with the ANATEL approval identification, prior to use the product's use or placeement on the market.

There are three possible entities responsible for affixing the mark:

• The manufacturer that operates the factory for the production of the product within Brazil
• The legal representative or recognized distributor of the manufacturer in the case of importation
• An end user, in the cases of a product being imported for personal use, for the purpose of providing telecommunications services, or developed without commercial purposes

The following methods are valid ways to label and identify a product has been approved:

• ANATEL seal consisting of the ANATEL logo accompanied by the numerical approval code
• The text "ANATEL" followed by the approval code ("ANATEL HHHHH-AA-FFFFF" or "ANATEL: HHHHH-AA-FFFFF")
• Electronic identification (e-label)
• QR code

ANATEL Seal

Below are the required proporations for the different permitted versions of the ANATEL seal logo.

Acceptable ANATEL Seal Logo Variations (Horizontal and Vertical)

The minimum height for the logo is 4 mm and text is 1 mm.

The color pattern specifications for the ANATEL log is as follows:

Use of the color pattern is optional, and both the logo and text can be printed in black and white.

E-Labeling

Electronic labels are permitted for devices built with an integrated electronic screen, or operate in conjunction with equipment that has an integrated electronic screen.

The following is required for e-labeling:

• The label is able to be accessed without the need for specific codes, passwords, or permissions.
• The label is able to be accessed without the need for plug-ins or special and supplementary accessories.
• The label must be able to be accessed in at most three pages/stages from the main or initial menu of the product.
• Instructions for accessing the identification information must be be provided at the time of purchase, and in the user manual.
• The electronic identification must be implemented at the factory and be unable to be electronically modified or tampered with.
• The electronic identification must remain recorded in the product's memory even when the operating system is restored to the original factory defaults.
• A physical identification is also required to be placed in the manual or product packaging.
• For products imported in bulk and not individually packed, the use of a temporary adhesive identification on the product or permanent identification on the transport packaging is allowed (must withstand normal handling conditions).

QR Code

The following is required for e-labeling:

• The label is able to be accessed without the need for specific codes, passwords, or permissions.
• The label is able to be accessed without the need for plug-ins or special and supplementary accessories.
• The label must be able to be accessed in at most three pages/stages from the main or initial menu of the product.
• Instructions for accessing the identification information must be be provided at the time of purchase, and in the user manual.

Examples of approved models of the seal to be affixed are shown below:

"HHHHH" identifies the approval of the product by means of a sequential numbering with 5 characters

"AA" identifies the year of issue of the approval using 2 numeric characters

"FFFFF" identifies the manufacturer of the product using 5 characters

Equipment containing a product with an approval must display the following in the manual: This equipment incorporates a product approved by ANATEL under number HHHHH-AA-FFFFF.

The label must be legible, indelible, and last for the entire life of the product. It is not permitted to be removed under normal use conditions.
