Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecommunications Equipment

The Telecommunications Engineering Center (TEC) of India will enforce mandatory TEC approval requirements for products in the Phase II product list.

Products within the scope of Phase II are as follows:

  • Transmission Terminal Equipment (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) Equipment, Multiplexing Equipment)
  • Passive Optical Network (PON) Family of Broadband Equipment (PON ONT, PON ONU, and PON OLT)
  • Feedback Device

TEC is currently accepting applications, and all products in the above list must comply by October 1, 2020.

Foreign test reports from ILAC accredited labs will be accepted for Technical Parameters of the ER (SAR, Interfaces, and Radio reports) until September 30, 2020. However, Safety and EMI/EMC requirements must be tested locally in India.

The request time for the parameter exemption process has been extended until September 30, 2020.

Enforcement of mandatory labeling requirements will be delayed for 6 months from the date of TEC certification.
