Authorization to Use Radio Frequency for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand has issued Criteria and Conditions of authorization to use RF for general use UAV.

The main changes are as follows:

  • Radar frequency 24.05-24.25 GHz 100 mW EIRP is opened. NBTC is in the process of establishing a technical standard for this frequency. Approximately 6 months after the technical standard is issued, Type Approval applications will be allowed.
  • Users that bring the drone into the country for temporary use and will bring the drone out of the country after use are exempt from Import License.
  • Users will now have to pay the fee of 200 baht (+VAT) for drone registration with NBTC.
  • Any SDoC and UAV (drone) registration with NBT before the effective date remains valid. No action is required.

This notification is effective September 23, 2020.
