The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) of Vietnam has issued the technical regulation QCVN 101:2020/BTTTT on lithium batteries used for handheld devices.

QCVN 101:2020/BTTTT will replace QCVN 101:2016/BTTTT.

This updated regulation covers the minimum technical requirements that would help to manage and evaluate the quality of lithium batteries for handheld devices, including removable lithium batteries or those embedded in mobile phones, tablets, and laptops.

The HS codes for products affected by this regulation are as follows:

• 8507.60.90
• 8507.60.10
• HS code for a device with a lithium battery embedded in/attached to it

The old regulation, QCVN 101:2016/BTTTT, is valid until the new regulation is in force.

QCVN 101:2020/BTTTT will come into force on July 1, 2021.
