Directional Gain of Multi-Antenna Systems Used for Compliance Verification

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States has added a Provision to Allow for the Measurement of Directional Gain of Multi-Antenna Systems for Compliance Verification.

For compliance purposes, the actual gain of an antenna system, when properly measured, may be used in lieu of calculation. Properly measured antenna gain results can be applied to EMC compliance measurements on devices and systems (including hosts with multiple modular transmitters) that transmit on multiple antennas simultaneously in the same or overlapping frequency ranges through a coordinated process.

When submitting antenna gain measurement results, the following items should be addressed:

  • Antenna System Description
  • Measurement Quantity
  • Measurement Method
  • Measurement Environment
