Additional Frequency Bands Approved for Use

The National Information & Communications Technology Authority (NICTA) of Papua New Guinea has approved the use of the frequency bands 700MHz, 71-76GHz, and 81-86GHz.

NICTA issued two notices: one for the 700MHz band and the other for the 71-76GHz and 81-86GHz frequency ranges (E-band).

The first notice covering the frequency plan for the 700MHz band relates to the spectrum between 698–806 MHz. It is planned to support IMT and IMT based mobile broadband applications.

The second notice covers the band plan and channeling arrangement for fixed wireless systems operating in the 71-76GHz and 81-86GHz frequency range.

These new frequency bands are now open for use in Papua New Guinea.
