The Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) of Malaysia had issued a few announcements regarding the new Energy efficiency requirements on November 30, 2020.

The announcents are as follows:

• This announcement, ST(IP/JKSK/UKLE) 100-13/03/9 (3), shows the mandatory amount of Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS) for an Electric Rice Cooker. The mandatory date will be on 1st of April 2021. The new standard will refer to MS2024:2020 and refer to MS IEC 62301:2012
• This announcement, ST(IP/JKSK/UKLE) 100-13/03/2 (11), is for the mandatory Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS) for a Microwave oven. Mandatory date will be on 1st of March 2021. This standard will refer to IEC 60705:2010 and MS IEC 62301:2012
• This announcement, ST(IP/JKSK/UKLE) 100-09/01/1 (74), mentions that an Energy efficiency report cannot use ID LetteR (Letter of similarity) to represent other models that are not included in the test report. For products stuck in customs currently, ST will give leeway for the importer to do a verification test in SIRIM for interim approval. This will only be for a short period until 31st December 2020.
