Updated Short-Range Devices Radio Spectrum Guidelines

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) of Egypt has issued an updated Short-range Devices (SRD) Radio Spectrum Guidelines in December 2020.

These regulations replace the Short-Range Wireless Devices Frequency Plan published 17th December 2018 and are effective immediately.

Some of the key additions and changes from the 2018 guidelines are as below:

  • Frequency band 5725-5825 MHz has been added under Non-specific SRD’s according to EN 300 400, with maximum power of 25mW EIRP.
  • Frequency bands 57-64GHz & 61-61.5GHz have been added under Non-specific SRD’s according to EN 305 550 with maximum power of 100mW EIRP.
  • UHF RFID in the band 865-868 MHz is now fully aligned with EU standard EN 302 208 with maximum output power of 2W ERP.
  • 2400-2483.5 MHz & 5725-5825 MHz has been removed from Cordless Telephones.
