The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the National Standards Body of India and they have extended the BIS plug/socket standard to take effect on June 1st, 2022.

This order shall apply to plugs and socket outlets, Alternating Current, Direct Connected Static, Prepayment Meters for Active Energy (Class1 and 2)- Specification.

The products shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards.

The Bureau of Indian Standards shall be the certifying and enforcing authority.
