The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has issued a reminder for Residential Gateway to comply with IMDA regulations along with registering with the IMDA.

The new regulations will follow both ENISA, Nov 2017: Baseline Security Recommendations for IoT in the context of Critical Information Infrastructures and GSMA CLP.13: IoT Security Guidelines Endpoint Ecosystem Version 2.0 31 October 2017.

The main goal of this is to have products that have better network protections when purchased, which will result in protecting the consumer and communication networks from security threats over the internet.

There are new requirements such as having a stronger initial password, factory login credentials, and different requirements for setup and handling as well.
