Comments Open for Mobile Security

The Info-Communications Media Development Authority (IMDA) has opened a commenting period on security requirements for mobile devices.

This Specification defines the minimum technical security requirements for the design and management of devices implemented on cellular networks to better safeguard communication networks from security threats in the area of connection efficiency. It also sets out to minimise the vulnerability of the individual cellular devices, ensuring that these devices are better protected and secured in the areas of access control and Over-The-Air (OTA) updating.

The dangers that are presented by hackers being able to control OTA updates is that they can easily access a mobile device without having to physically take control of the mobile device.

The period for commenting opens on the 13th of October 2021 and closes on the 27th of October 2021.
