Updates to Radio Frequency Regulations

The Vietnam Ministry of Communication (MIC) has released a new list of radio equipment exempted from the license for use of radio frequencies, technical conditions and enclosed exploitation. This Circular is to replace the old Circulars including No. 46/TT-BTTTT dated Dec 26, 2016), No. 18/2018/TT-BTTTT dated Dec 20, 2018).

Radio equipment that is already in use which meet the old Circular requirements shall be allowed to continue to be used but must stop being used when specialized radio frequency management agencies determine it is causing harmful interference to licensed RF equipment or electrical equipment approved by the regulatory authority.

The technical requirements are equivalent to the following standards:

  • -ETSI TS 138 101-1 V16.4.0 (2020-07): Range 1 Standalone
  • -ETSI TS 138 101-2 V16.4.0 (2020-07): Range 2 Standalone
  • -ETSI TS 138.521-1 V16.5.0p (2020-12): 5G; NR; User Equipment (UE) Conformance Specification; Radio Transmission and Reception; Part 1: Range 1 Standalone
  • -ETSI TS 138.521-2 V16.5.0p (2020-11): NR; User Equipment (UE) Conformance Specification; Radio Transmission and Reception; Part 2: Range 2 Standalone

The new Circular shall be effective on Mar 1, 2022.
