The Regulatory Authority for Telecommunications and Post (ARTP) has released decision n°2021-11. This contains new type approval procedures and the following new regulations as well.

1. Certificates issued without approval number must undergo new certification to be in accordance with the new regulation.
2. Old certificates or certificates that were issued without approval numbers, will be valid until September 2024. From July 2024, manufacturers who have a similar certificate are asked to get their certificates under the new standards. The certificates obtained at the end of the process will be permanent.
3. The new regulation will require one normal sample for mobile terminals and modules. Samples will be mandatory in 2022 once the laboratory is set up. Ongoing projects and projects submitted before January 1st, 2022 won’t be affected by this provision.
4. With the new regulation, labels are now mandatory and will include the approval number. Regarding small equipment, the manufacturer can put the label in the manual.

Any telecom/radio equipment will be subject to type approval except the following SRD:

1. Remote control/start device used in vehicles
2. Switch without RF functions
3. Installations used solely for the reception of radio programs (old TV)

The ARTP will be implementing this in January 2022, once a testing lab is finished being constructed.
