A New Public Consultation on Optical Networks

The National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) has released a proposal for a new public consultation regarding optical devices.

The scope of this public consultation is for ONT, OLT and ONU equipment for fiber optic networks with passive network standards GPON, XGPON and XGSPON.

The main purpose of this public consultation is to establishes the minimum requirements to be demonstrated in the conformity assessment of Optical Network Terminal (ONT), Optical Line Terminal (OLT) and Optical Network Unit (UNO) equipment. ) for fiber optic networks with 1 Gbps capacity (Gigabit-capable passive optical network - GPON), 10 Gbps (10-Gigabit-capable passive optical network - XGPON) and symmetrical 10 Gbps (10-Gigabit-capable symmetric passive optical network - XGSPON), for the purpose of approval by the National Telecommunications Agency.
