Regulatory Framework for Short-Range Devices and Internet of Things

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) issues new regulatory framework for short range devices and terrestrial internet of things services.

This framework lists all the allowed spectrum bands, as well as output power requirements.

Products operating in these frequency bands require type approval certification:

14 148.5- 5 000 kHz – 15 dΒμΑ/m at 10 meters in any bandwidth of 10 kHz. The total field strength is – 5 dΒμΑ/m at 10 meters for systems operating at bandwidths larger than 10 kHz 10 m induction loop system SRDs only loop coil external antennas may be employed
15 5000 kHz - 30 MHz – 20 dΒμΑ/m at 10 meters in any bandwidth of 10 kHz. The total field strength is – 5 dΒμΑ/m at 10 m for systems operating at bandwidths >10 kHz 10 m induction loop system SRDs/RFID only loop coil external antennas may be employed

The PTA will begin accepting Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) licensing applications starting March 31st, 2022.
