The Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) of Vietnam released Circular No.2/2022/TT-BTTTT, replacing Circulars 11/2020/TT-BTTTT and 01/2021/TT-BTTTT on May 16,2022.
Under the MIC Type Approval and Self-assessment DoC scope, the Ministry of Information and Communication prescribes a new list of items. From July 1, 2022, the Circular No. 2/2022/TT-BTTTT will be in effect.
Below are the highlights for the new standards including:
- QCVN 22:2021/BTTTT (for safety of ICT product, enforced for DECT phone only at this moment)
- QCVN 65:2021/BTTTT (RF for WLAN 5GHz)
- QCVN 123:2020/BTTTT (RF for 40GHz ~ 246GHz SRD)
- QCVN 124:2021/BTTTT (RF for 76GHz ~ 77GHz vehicle radar)
- QCVN 127:2021/BTTTT (RF for 5G NR SA mobile terminal)
- QCVN 129:2021/BTTTT (RF for 5G NR NSA mobile terminal)
According to The Ministry of Information and Communication, the list applies only to products and goods having HS code and descriptions specified in Group 2.
Due to the lack of a 5G callbox in Vietnamese laboratories, they may not be able to test and obtain MIC accreditation for QCVN 127:2021/BTTTT and QCVN 129:2021/BTTTT until the middle of 2023.o address this issue, the Vietnam MIC has decided to allow test reports generated by ISO/IEC 17025 test laboratories to be used in the certification process. Please double-check that the ISO/IEC 17025 test standards are the same as the ones referred to in QCVN 127:2021/BTTTT and QCVN 129:2021/BTTTT.
Because the Vietnam MIC operates both QCVN 65:2013/BTTTT and QCVN 65:2021/BTTTT, corporations and people can apply for Type Approval using either version. However, for new applications, the client should apply for the new version QCVN 65:2021/BTTTT Type Approval certificate, which has a longer validity period.
Organizations and individuals can continue to utilize existing Type Approval certificates listing QCVN 65:2013/BTTTT for items that will be phased out before July 1, 2023, and do not need to re-apply for QCVN 65:2021/BTTTT if the certificate will not expire before July 1, 2023.
