New Non-Cellular LPWA Regulations Issued

On November 7, 2023 the SDPPI issued a regulation draft of Non-cellular LPWA technology. The draft was issued for public consultations to get publish input. After about two months, the Minister of communications and informatics of the Republic of Indonesia has finally released the final versions of the regulation called KEPMEN KOMINFO NO 5 TAHUN 2024. This will finally separate the LPWA cellular and non-cellular devices under the previous regulation PERDIRJEN SDPPI NO 3 TAHUN 2019.

A quick overview new regulations to take note. First and foremost, non-cellular LPWAN equipment must be permanently factory locked so that it can only work on radio frequency bands as allocated in the technical regulation. New strict regulations were established in this technical regulations.
