ICES-Gen Adds to Compliance of Interference-Causing Equipment

On February 23, 2024 ISED releases ICES-Ged, Issue 2. Interference-Causing Equipment Standard ICES-Gen, issue 2, General Requirments for Compliance of Interference-Causing Equipment, replaces ICES-Gen, issue 1, published in July 2018 and amended in February 2021. Here are the main changes.

First the clarification of the definitions for residential environment, composite equipment, host equipment, multifunction equipment, supplier, and corrected the definition for standard test voltage. Specified the proper transition period for this standard. Updated the requirements for host equipment in sections 3.6, 4.1, and 6.3.4. Also clarifying requirements for accessories. New calibration requirements for measurement equipment were added to section 4.5. Requirements for DC- and AC- operated equipment, as well as external power supplies, were further explained. Expanded on the requirements for the users manual and added QR code labelling. Further explanations on the procedure applicants must do to obtain approval for place the label in the suer manual. Simplified the required ISED Label while elaborating on the electronic labelling and labeling for host equipments. Editorial changes and clarifications were made as necessary to minimize confusion.
