The Department of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada is seeking comments on the consultation of RSS-123, issue 5, “Wireless Microphones and Wireless Multichannel Audio Systems”. This Radio Standards Specification (RSS) sets out the requirements for the certification of license wireless microphones and Wireless Multichannel Audio Systems (WMAS). ISED is requesting comments no later than June 20, 2024.

The Draft of the Radio Standards Specification RSS-123, Issue 5, Wireless Microphones and Wireless Multichannel Audio System, to replace RSS-123, Issue 4, Licensed Wireless Microphones, dated August 2019. There have been four major changes. First is the additional requirements for the operation of WMAS in frequency bands specified in Table 2. Additional definition for terms used in this standard were created to reflect the expansion of this standard. Section 3.5 has updated the reference for ETSI EN 300 422-1. Section 5.3 was also updated to show the unwanted emissions requirements for wireless microphones. Editorial changes and clarifications were made when necessary.
