RFID Equipment Updates Regulation for 900 MHz Bands

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has notified the public about new provisions on RFID Equipment within the 900 MHz Band. MIIT published, β€œMIIT No. [2024] No. 76”, for RFID Equipment for the 900 MHz Band and will come into full effect November 1, 2024. The previous RFID Technology regulation, β€œMIIT No. [2007] No. 205,” will be abolished at that time.

Type approvals that meet the original provisions before the implication of β€œMIIT No. (2024) No. 76” will be able to apply for approval or extensions as usual. After the implementation date, only submissions following the new requirements will be accepted.

The new requirements state that 840-845 MHz RFID equipment will no longer be permitted. Only the allowed working frequency 920-925 MHz can be used for RFID equipment. For RFID equipment, SRRC certification will be necessary, a radio station license is not required. Requirements also dictate the RFID usage in the 33 meters vicinity of any railway tracks. Usage need to be approved by the National Railway Administration or regional railway Supervision Administration.
