The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) of Qatar has release the official updated regulation for “Class License for Short Range Devices - Version No. (5).” The latest iteration reflects the ongoing evolution in telecommunications standards to reflect the public’s needs. Interested parties and stakeholders were encouraged to review and provide feedback during the consultation period until June 25, 2024, after that the CRA will consider all submissions before finalizing the regulation.
Here is what we might see soon in the updated “Class License for Short Range Devices - Version No. (5)”. First, 433.05-434.79 MHz added to the M2M applications allowed bands. UWB bands added with more clarity to include 3100-3400 MHz, 3400-3800 MHz, 3800-4200 MHz, 4200-4800 MHz, 6000-8500 MHz, and 8500-9000 MHz. Reserving new allowed bands for movement detection and alert systems added to include 9200-9500 MHz, 9500-9975 MHz, 17.1-17.3 GHz, 4500-7000 MHz, 8500 MHz-10.6 GHz, 6000-8500 MHz, and 24.05-26.5 GHz. Adding 100 Hz-9kHz into inductive applications allowed bands. New allocated bands have been added for GPS receivers to include 1559-1610 MHz, 1563-1591 MHz, 1164-1215 MHz, and 1215-1300 MHz. Wireless applications in Healthcare and Listening Devices would include new additions of 315-600 kHz, 12,500-20,000 kHz, and 430-440 MHz. New bands for radio microphones and hearing Aids systems would include 100 Hz-9 KHz, 169.4-174 MHz, 169.4-169.475 MHz, and 169.4875-169.5875 MHz. There were revision sin the Wireless Microphone Systems allowed bands of 1785-1805 MHz and 821.5-826 MHz. Specific technical requirements introduced for UWB devices installed in road and rail vehicles. Wi-Fi 6E band added 5925-6425 MHz.
