Full Device Testing Still Mandatory in the US

The FCC reaffirms that full Part 15 certification remains mandatory for IoT and RF devices—requiring separate approvals for Subpart B (unintentional radiators) and Subpart C (transmitters). Costs range from $3K–$5K for Subpart B, to $40K+ for Subpart C.

A new voluntary Cybersecurity Label ("Cyber Trust Mark") with QR-linked transparency is now offered—but it does not replace certification. To avoid delays, manufacturers should prepare documentation early, coordinate with labs, and adhere strictly to FCC labelling rules.
