ANATEL has officially withdrawn the temporary approval that permitted the certification of equipment using FDD technology in the 1880–1920 MHz frequency range (Band 2). This decision was communicated through Official Letter No. 246/2025, issued on August 20, 2025.
Under Resolution No. 757/2022, the 1880–1920 MHz band was reallocated exclusively for TDD systems, phasing out FDD use. Although a grace period allowed continued certification until June 2026, ANATEL has now ended this early after confirming that FDD systems are not currently deployed in this range.
- Certification bodies (OCDs) must no longer accept or process approvals for Band 2 (FDD).
- For renewals, any previous inclusion of Band 2 must be removed.
- Only Band 39 (TDD) remains eligible for use in this frequency range.
The update aligns with Resolution No. 773/2025, which continues to limit the 1880–1920 MHz band to TDD-only systems. ANATEL confirmed that no companies currently hold licenses for FDD operations in this band, making continued certification unnecessary.
