Bangladesh Requires IPv6 Support for All Wi-Fi Routers

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has officially revoked its previous order concerning the manufacturing and import of Wi-Fi routers operating in the ISM band. The earlier directive, issued under Memo No. 14.32.0000.500.46.001.24.000007160 on November 7 2024, was withdrawn on August 4 2025.

Although the earlier policy is no longer in effect, BTRC has introduced a new compliance requirement: all Wi-Fi routers must now support IPv6 technology. This update applies to both imported and locally manufactured devices.

The mandate aligns with Bangladeshโ€™s efforts to enhance its internet infrastructure and future-proof its network capabilities in accordance with global connectivity standards.
