On July 16, 2025, a new telecommunications law took effect in Mexico, dissolving the longstanding Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT). In its place, two new government bodies have been established:
Once fully operational, the CRT is expected to take over the day-to-day management of TEL MRA designation and recognition activities.
Until that transition occurs, the IFT remains responsible for these functions, and designation requests continue to be processed without delays.
