Pakistan Approves Wi-Fi 7 & Future Wi-Fi Technologies for the 6 GHz Band

On September 26, 2025, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced a major regulatory milestone: the approval of Wi-Fi 7 and upcoming Wi-Fi generations for operation in the 6 GHz band (5925–6425 MHz). This update follows the framework originally established for Wi-Fi 6E and signals Pakistan’s move toward next-generation wireless innovation.

With this decision, Pakistan becomes one of the earliest adopters in the Asia-Pacific region to authorize Wi-Fi 7 — a technology designed to deliver high-capacity, low-latency performance that supports emerging digital applications across homes, businesses, industry, and public infrastructure.

Key Highlights of the PTA Update

According to PTA, expanded 6 GHz access will enhance connectivity for households, SMEs, hospitals, campuses, and industrial environments—while also supporting resilient infrastructure and digital inclusion initiatives nationwide.
