Singapore Updates Consumer Protection Regulations for Smart Socket Devices
On 26 September 2025, the Singapore Competition & Consumer Commission (CCCS) released the latest
Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations (CPSR) Information Booklet, introducing important changes to controlled product categories.
Key Regulatory Update
- β’ The product category β3-pin 13-amp socket-outlet with remote-control functionβ is now classified as a Controlled Good with immediate effect.
- β’ This means that all smart outlets and remote-control socket devices, previously outside the regulatory scope, must now comply with CPSR safety requirements.

- β’ Suppliers must ensure all smart outlet products carry a valid CPS Safety Mark before being sold in Singapore.
- β’ Non-compliant products are prohibited from market entry and may be subject to enforcement actions.
