Chile Introduces Digital Compliance System for Short-Range Devices

The Chilean Telecommunications Authority, SUBTEL, has issued Resolution Exenta N° 737/2025, establishing a modern digital compliance framework for short-range devices (SRDs). Effective February 2026, this system replaces traditional paper-based type approvals with a QR code–based traceability model, streamlining market access for manufacturers and importers.

• • Most SRDs, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and RFID devices, no longer require formal SUBTEL type approval certification.
• • Compliance must be demonstrated via a QR code affixed to the external packaging of each device.
• • The QR code must link to a dedicated, active webpage containing essential compliance documentation:
  • • Declaration of Conformity
  • • Relevant test reports
  • • Technical specifications (frequency use, maximum power, etc.)
• • Wireless medical devices listed under sections (g) and (h) of the Resolution continue to require full SUBTEL certification.
• • The focus shifts from pre-market approval to post-market oversight, enabling SUBTEL to perform digital audits and real-time verification of products.
