Hong Kong OFCA Releases New Technical Specs for LTE, 5G NR, and Wi-Fi 6E Devices
The Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) of Hong Kong has published three key technical specifications in 2025 to guide type acceptance and certification for LTE, 5G NR, and Wi-Fi 6E equipment. These updates ensure that devices meet the latest spectrum, power, and technical requirements before entering the Hong Kong market.
TAC 014 Issue 1 β LTE Equipment
- β’ Frequency band: 1880β1920 MHz (unpaired)
- β’ Applicable products: LTE smartphones, routers, IoT terminals
- β’ Standards: ETSI EN 301 908-1, EN 301 908-13; 3GPP TS 36.521-1
- β’ Requirement: All devices using this band must follow TAC 014 for Hong Kong type acceptance.
HKCA 1085 Issue 1 β 5G NR Equipment
- β’ Frequency range: 703 MHz β 28.35 GHz, including 6425β7125 MHz (6 GHz band)
- β’ Standards: ETSI EN 301 908-1 / 908-25; 3GPP TS 38.521-1, -2, -3
- β’ Coverage: Range 1 and Range 2 standalone operation
- β’ Requirement: Devices must be tested according to HKCA 1085 for market entry.
HKCA 1081 Issue 2 (Aug 2025) β Wi-Fi 6E Devices
- β’ Band: 5.945β6.425 GHz (5.925β5.945 GHz reserved as guard band)
- β’ Power limits: Indoor 24 dBm EIRP / Outdoor 14 dBm EIRP
- β’ Equipment classes: Low Power Indoor (LPI), Very Low Power (VLP)
- β’ Reference standard: ETSI EN 303 687
