Thailandโ€™s NBTC Updates Technical Standards for DECT and Wireless Microphones

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand has released three pivotal announcements on November 13, 2025, aimed at modernizing the regulatory landscape for short-range devices. These updates specifically target Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) technology and wireless microphones, aligning local requirements with current global technical standards.

Under the new NBTC TS 1042-2568 for DECT equipment, devices operating in the 1880โ€“1900 MHz band must now comply with the latest ETSI EN 301 406 standards. The regulation covers various hardware types, including fixed parts, portable handsets, and wireless relay stations. Notably, these devices are classified as "Class A" equipment, requiring a formal conformity assessment through the NBTC's standard procedures.

Simultaneously, NBTC TS 1006-2568 introduces updated rules for wireless microphones, including In-Ear Monitoring (IEM) and Wireless Multichannel Audio Systems (WMAS). While low-power microphones in the 88โ€“108 MHz and 165โ€“210 MHz bands can utilize a Supplierโ€™s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC), higher-power units in the 694โ€“703 MHz, 748โ€“758 MHz, and 803โ€“806 MHz ranges are subject to stricter "Class A" certification requirements.

For manufacturers and importers, these changes mean that existing test reports must be reviewed against the new ETSI benchmarks. Furthermore, the general frequency usage guidelines have been updated to ensure that these devices operate on a non-interference, non-exclusive basis, with specific mandates for electrical safety and human RF exposure compliance.
