Within Canada, the official authority over spectrum allocation and technical standard enforcement rests with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. However, behind every major decision made by the government sits a key collaborative organization known as the Radio Advisory Board of Canada.

While the fundamental rules went into effect on April 6, 2026, regulatory authorities have structured a extended compliance runway for high-density frequency ranges. Most notably, the technical specifications outlined under Article 11—which govern the 5 GHz band (5,150–5,250 MHz)—will become fully compulsory on October 6, 2026.
