Updates on IPv6 Equipment Requirements

The Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia had announced that the implementation of the interim Type Approval for IPv6 cellular equipment without WiFi interface has been extended for another year, effective July 10, 2022.

As a result, all new applications and renewals of Certificates of Conformity (CoC) with a maximum validity of one year are permitted.

Beginning on July 10, 2020, all IPv6-capable, directly connected to the service provider equipment must be certified, as mandated by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in Technical Code MCMC MTSFB TC T013:2019 Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) - Equipment Compliance (First Revision).

Interim approval with a validity period of one year will be issued for IPv6 equipment over other medium (e.g., fiber optic, etc.) except Ethernet LAN.

However, the applicant must conduct the test in any accredited laboratory available during the interim approval period and submit the test report for SIRIM evaluation. If the IPv6 over cellular interface or other medium meets the IPv6 requirements, full approval will be granted.
