The Instituto Federal de las Telecomunicaciones (IFT) as the radio regulator of Mexico has issued “Technical Provision IFT-011-2022: Technical Specifications for Mobile Terminal Equipment that can make use of the radio spectrum or be connected to telecommunications networks. Part 3. Cellular Broadcasting Service for notification due to Risk or Emergency situations” on September 13th, 2022.

The Technical Provision applies to cell phones and/or smart phones that can use the radio spectrum or are connected to telecommunications networks for the reception and processing of alert messages resulting from risk or emergency situations via the Broadcasting Service (CBS) for risk or emergency notification.

IFT-011-2022 will take effect 180 calendar days after it is published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, on March 12, 2023.
