EU Consolidates Standards

As of November 8th, 2022, the EU Commission has repealed all previous Decisions and have consolidated into one complete Decision. This merger of the full list of all the harmonized standards that support the RED, allows for removal of overlapping or outdated standards. There are new restrictions from some of the harmonized standards because a presumption of conformity has been restricted. In some of the statements, tolerances have been lowered to +2 dB which is lower than the previous stated values established by clause 4.2.2 of the Harmonized Standard EN 301 908-13 V13.2.1.

The ultimate goal is for clarity and rationality in standards. A complete list of referenced harmonized standards drafted in support of Directive 2014/53/EU with the satisfing requirements that devices must meet should be published as one single act. This will include any limitations set out for any of the established harmonized standards.

This has lead to the implementation in reference to support of the Directive 2014/53/EU in reference to harmonized standards for radio equipment subject to any limitations set out in Annex I for any of those harmonized standards. Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/167 has been repealed. Communication 2018/C326/04 has been repealed. However, it will continue to apply to the references of the harmonized standards listed in Annex III in this Decision until the dates of withdrawal of those references as set out in the Annex. This Decision was entered into force the day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union on November 8th, 2022 in Brussels.

These are the new standards published in this Decision:

  • EN 300 422-1 V2.2.1
